Welcome

Deaf Communications is an organisation that has been setup to provide services and resources for Deaf people, their families, friends and colleagues, to parents of children diagnosed as being deaf and to organisations that require training or resources in order to communicate appropriately with the Deaf community and with Deaf people as individuals.

Deaf Communications Ltd will complement and enhance the currently available training and resources available to the Deaf and non-deaf community.

“A member of the Irish Deaf Community is someone who uses Irish Sign language (ISL) as his/her primary means of communication, one who has had a hearing loss for birth or at an early age, who consistently attends and participates in social gatherings of Deaf people and who has influence within the community.   Such a person will not see deafness as a problem and will have positive attitudes toward and be proud of signing. “   Matthews: 1996:8
